  • Paul A.Tenokotte, Ph.D.

    Northern Kentucky University - Paul A. Tenkotte, PhD is Professor of History at Northern Kentucky University. He has published 16 books, contributed chapters and essays to 13 additional books, and edited more than 600 articles and book reviews for a wide range of publications. In addition, he has participated in 22 television documentaries, including his 2018 national PBS debut, "Ten That Changed America: Engineering Marvels." Dr. Tenkotte’s textbook, "The United States since 1865: Information Literacy and Critical Thinking," was published in 2022 by Kendall Hunt. He is also editor of the weekly “Our Rich History” column in the NKyTribune, an online publication of the non-profit Kentucky Center for Public Service Journalism; see: http://www.nkytribune.com/category/our-rich-history/.     Cincinnati Preservation Association - Beth Johnson has been the Executive Director of Cincinnati Preservation Association for 3 years and came to CPA from her position as the urban conservator for the City of Cincinnati, a position she held for more than six years. She has also worked in preservation and planning for the City of Covington, KY as well the cities of San Antonio and Austin, TX. She is a graduate of Ball State University where she received a degree in urban planning and history with a minor in historic preservation. She received her master’s degree in historic preservation planning from Cornell.

    American Sign Museum - Tod Swormstedt spent 26 years on the staff of Signs of the Times magazine, which was founded in 1906. He became the fourth-generation editor of the "bible of the sign industry," following in his family's footsteps. In 1999, Tod founded the National Signs of the Times Museum, now known as the American Sign Museum.

    Jewish Cemeteries of Greater Cincinnati - With a background in history and historic preservation, Carrie serves as Operations Manager for JCGC and consults with other local cemeteries on operations and preservation projects.

  • Anna Hehman

    Cincinnati Observatory - Anna Hehman has made her career in the nonprofit world working for several organizations, including the American Cancer Society, Notre Dame Academy, and currently, the Cincinnati Observatory, where she serves as the organization’s Executive Director. Hehman also served as the co-host of the podcast 'Looking Up', produced by local NPR affiliate WVXU from 2017-2022.

    Anna is a graduate of Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber’s C-Change program (Class 3) and the 2014 NKY Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership NKY program. She has served on the boards of Community Shares of Greater Cincinnati and Xavier University’s Private Interests in Public Good (PIPG) program.

    A graduate of Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, Anna earned her MBA from Xavier University’s Williams College of Business. She lives in Bellevue, Kentucky, with her husband, Mike, and their 2 children.

    Wullenweber & Sons, Plastering - Terry is a third-generation plasterer and owner of Wullenweber & Sons, Plastering of Milan, IN, has owned and operated the family-owned business since 1972. Terry has devoted his life to specializing in Decorative, Ornamental, Conventional and Veneer Plaster coatings. Much of his work can be seen on the interiors of Indiana State Museum Sites around the state, quite notably the most intricate of is the Culbertson Mansion restoration project, in New Albany, IN. Wullenweber & Sons, Plastering has completed projects within the state of Indiana as well as Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan. We take pride and skill at replicating existing ornamental plasterwork that also has been destroyed and/or missing. Terry is active in promoting the hands-on trades and has conducted workshops for Indiana Landmarks, Historic Madison, Inc., Cornerstone Society, Inc., Preservation Louisville and Kentucky Heritage Council. He is currently a member of the Preservation Trades Network and Indiana Landmarks. During his personal time, he coached varsity high school girls’ volleyball in Milan for over 25 years.     RLD Glass Art & Restoration, LLC - Rhonda L. Deeg has over 30 years of glasswork and trades experience. With artisan influences from both of Rhonda's parents as well as an art, interior design, construction and historic preservation experiences, creativity and problem solving occurs daily in the studio.   • Jim & Beverly McPhail

    When Navy retirees Jim and Bev McPhail relocated from Connecticut to Bellevue, KY, in 2017, they bought an old house in the Fairfield Avenue Historic District and set about researching its history. They also helped friends with research. As they did, they learned to overcome many of the obstacles that often hinder such research.

    The McPhails served on the History Committee of the Bellevue Sesquicentennial Commission. They’ve held seminars on researching the history of homes and their occupants, including field trips to the courthouse with the attendees. In 2019, they were named "Preservation Heroes" as part of the River Cities Excellence in Preservation Awards.

    Hempleman Contracting - Eric has worked around tradesmen his whole life with an interest in construction and working with his hands. For three years after high school, he worked for a larger roofing company before attending the University of Cincinnati. At UC, he began studies in the engineering program but found himself quickly returning to the field. He transferred his major to secondary social studies to teach history. He combined his two passions by continuing work in the field of historic preservation while having the opportunity to share skill sets and knowledge with homeowners and fellow tradesmen alike.     Over-the-Rhine Museum - Donna began in this role in May 2020 and is the museum’s first paid full-time staff person. Donna has expertise in evaluation, program development, and grant writing from her twenty-plus years working in nonprofit organizations. She holds a BA in Psychology, an MS in Health Promotion, and graduate certificates in Museum Studies, Nonprofit Leadership, and Fundraising. In her role at the Over-the-Rhine Museum, she manages museum operations, supervises community programming, and facilitates grants, evaluation, and the restoration of the museum's building.

    Gaines House - Paula Jolley was a member of the Walton City Council when the city purchase the Gaines House . She also served as Mayor after the restoration of the house when it opened to the public. She became the Event Coordinator in 2023.

    K & V Cultural Resources Management - Jeannine Kreinbrink is President of K & V Cultural Resources Management.     DAR - Robin Bennett has been a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution since 2013. She holds local membership in the Boone County Chapter where she served as Chapter Registrar for eight years. She has also held positions of Historic Preservation

She currently serves as the State Registrar for KSDAR and was honored to be the recipient of the 2021 KSDAR Outstanding Volunteer Genealogist Award.     Kentucky Heritage Council - State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) - L. RaShae Jennings received her MA with a Historic Preservation track through the Folk Studies Program at Western Kentucky University in 2011. She is currently the Historic Preservation Coordinator at the Kentucky Heritage Council which also serves as the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). The main focus of her work is completing projects that involve section 106 review. She loves spending time with her pets, gardening, and painting in her spare time.

    Campbell County Historical & Genealogical Society - Steve Battistone joined the Campbell County Historical & Genealogical Society in 2009 and has served as President since 2018.

  • Pat Fox

    Boone County Historic Preservation Review Board - Patricia Fox has been on the board since the mid-1990's and served as Chairperson from 2002 to 2012 and resumed Chairperson responsibilities in 2023.

    She has been involved with the Friends of Big Bone since 2005 and currently serves as the board chair. She resides in Petersburg, KY, and taught high school English in Kenton County for 36 years, and English composition classes at Gateway Community College (two years) and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College (seven years). She is married to Patrick Lense and has one son, two step-children, and five grandchildren.

    "I love to hike, kayak, and camp. Currently I am working on the second of four books for middle-grade/young adults that involve the history and the paranormal in the county. Pat and I love the countryside around us, and are particularly intrigued by not only the land but by the people who once lived throughout western Boone County and what they left us. We are environmentalists at heart, and hope that the natural beauty and history of Boone County can be preserved for generations to come."

  • Will Schottelkotte

    Schottelkotte Design Build Inc. - Will works as a general contractor and carpenter in the Tri-State area, with a specialization in residential remodeling and historic restoration. He has honed his craft for almost thirty years in New Orleans, LA, Galveston, TX, the Mountain West, and here in the TriState. He lives in Westwood with his wife LJ, their labradoodle, Alfie, and cat Olive.

  • Cindy Becknell

    Cindy Becknell is a former high school English and French teacher, then Corporate Paralegal in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. She caught the renovation bug by coming to the NKY Restoration Seminars even before she started her projects. She has lived in the Taylor’s Daughters historical district of Bellevue for 46 years. She was one of the “Superfans” featured in the December 2017 issue of This Old House after having submitted her kitchen remodel for their Tommy Award (she didn’t win).

    With a small inheritance as seed money, she was able to start her restorations in 2016. Fueled by some savings and tax credit money, she is currently wrapping up her third tax credit application and submitting her fourth. She says, “I’m not a hands-on person, so I mostly use contractors recommended by others, and those presenting at this seminar. Always expect the unexpected! It is an investment, but I think you must have an affinity for and appreciate the beauty of old buildings and architecture to continue this labor of love. I fell in love with my house when I first entered it 46 years ago!”

    Northern Kentucky University - Don Miller has been a professional archaeologist for over 33 years. His research interests have focused on Kentucky archaeology although he has worked extensively throughout the Eastern United States. He is an adjunct professor in the Department of History at Northern Kentucky University.

  • Robert Genheimer

    Cincinnati Museum Center - Bob Genheimer is the George Rieveschl Curator of Archaeology at the Cincinnati Museum Center. He was interested in the past from an early age, but realized that he really wanted to get his hands dirty. He has both a bachelors and a masters degree in Anthropology from the University of Cincinnati. He worked as an archaeologist for Miami Purchase Association (now Cincinnati Preservation Association) and has been with the Cincinnati Museum Center since 1990.

    Harriet Beecher Stowe House, NKU Public History, and National Underground Railroad Freedom Center

    This panel discussion will discuss how museums and organizations tell the history and stories of Greater Cincinnati's Black population. This will include a discussion on the obstacles and successes and the resources they use to research.

  • Christina Hartlieb

    Harriet Beecher Stowe House - Christina Hartlieb serves as the Executive Director of the Harriet Beecher Stowe House. With a BA and MA in History along with a background in small business and secondary education, Christina has strengthened the programming and visitor experience of this historic site. She relishes the role of educating others about the significance of Harriet’s experiences in Cincinnati, the city’s role in abolitionism, and the legacy of Harriet and social justice that extends into the 20th century and beyond. This includes the Edgemont Inn, Green Book era of the House. Christina is passionate about historical literacy and visits other museums and historic sites whenever she gets the chance.

  • Dr. Brian Hackett

    Northern Kentucky University, Public History - Dr. Brian Hackett is the director of Northern Kentucky University’s Master’s program in Public History. He has decades of leadership experience in the field of public history, particularly in museum management and exhibit development. He served as executive director for the Montgomery County Historical Society from 1992 to 2004, executive director of the Ross County Historical Society from 1987 to 1992, and collections curator of the Olmstead County (Minnesota) Historical Society from 1985 to 1987.

  • Novella Nimmo-Black

    National Underground Railroad Freedom Center - Novella came to the National Underground Railroad Freedom in October 2004 as a contract storyteller, joining the museum staff full time three years later. As Manager of Docents and Special Projects, she ensures good communication with and best practices by the museum’s valued volunteers. She also tours special guests, works on DEAI initiatives to enhance the guest experience and considers how to best share Underground Railroad history in today’s world.

  • Scott Clark

    Newport History Museum at the Southgate School - Scott Clark, has been the Historic Preservation Officer for the City of Newport since 2011 after 6 years on the Historic Preservation commission. Scott has the distinction of not only being Newport’s longest-serving HP officer but the only one to live in Newport’s historic District in its 34-year history. A lifelong Preservationist, Scott has experience in all aspects of historic buildings, has been a volunteer site leader for Habitat for Humanity rebuilds, and is a founding committee member of NKY Restoration.
